What is financial coaching?
Most of us are familiar with a coach of some kind. Coaches help with setting goals, help develop a plan for reaching goals, provide tools and methods for executing the plan, and provide guidance and accountability along the way. This definition can be applied to many things such as sports, business, and of course personal finance.
How is this different than financial advising?
Financial advisors specialize in recommending and selling investment products such as stocks, bonds, and funds. While they are very important on your journey to wealth, I specialize in the foundations of personal finance. We will discuss effective budgeting processes, efficient debt elimination, establishing an emergency fund, the power of compounding interest, and many other topics.
what will i gain from a coaching session?
Each session will be different depending on where you are on our path to financial freedom. Each session will end with you gaining clarification on concepts or plans and you will walk away with something actionable to get you one step closer to financial security.
do you use the same approach to every client?
Personal Finance is just that… Personal. Therefore my approach to clients will differ depending on the needs of the client. Everyone’s goals, plans, and actions will vastly differ. I will utilize some of the same tools on each client to help set goals, plans, etc.
how many times and how often will we meet?
This is another aspect that depends on the client needs. Some clients just needs some clarification on financial concepts. Others will need multiple sessions to establish goals, plans, actions, and accountability. Usually clients needing multiple session will meet with me once per month.
what qualifies you to do this?
My primary qualification is fact that I have lived this myself. My personal experiences have prepared me to be the perfect financial coach for the clients I serve. My education and professional experience further reinforces this qualification.
